Skylab Workshops
Skylab workshops are free and open to all UWF students, faculty and staff. Workshops last around one hour on average, although you can stay after the session and continue to study and get further technical assistance if you wish.

Photoshop for Beginners - This is an introductory class is for those who are new to Photoshop and want to learn the basics.
The following topics will be covered: tools and the toolbar, brushes (size, hardness & softness), changing colors, gradients, keyboard shortcuts, uses for Photoshop, importing photos, differences in resolution, layers & masks, CMYK versus RGB color spectrum, differences in file types, text, FX, vector vs bitmap, image scaling
InDesign for Beginners - This is an introductory class is for those who are new to InDesign and want to learn the basics.
The following topics will be covered: uses for InDesign, measurements used by professional printers e.g. - picas pixels and inches, document setup, adding columns, inserting images, placing and wrapping text, layers, adding a color background, adding pages, exporting and printing.
Premiere Video Editing for Beginners - This is an introductory class is for those who are new to Premiere and want to learn the basics.
The following topics will be covered: file management, video formats and resolutions, adding video, cutting and splicing, zoom in-out, ungroup/regroup tracks, adding text, adding audio, adding still images, exporting video.
Intro to Desktop 3d Printing- This is an introductory class is for those who are new to 3D printing and want to learn the basics.
The following topics will be covered: What is Desktop 3D Printing? How Does Desktop 3D Printing work? 3D Modeling Software Programs, 3D Printing Filament, Types of 3D Desktop Printers that are available, 3D Scanning.
Intro to SolidWorks - 3D CAD Design Software - SolidWorks is a professional 3D modeling/CAD software program that is now available for UWF students, faculty and staff. This workshop is intended for beginners who have never used SolidWorks. The basics of the SolidWorks user interface will be covered. Learners will also be assisted with a beginner level hands-on lesson on how to create a 3D model in SolidWorks. The goal of this class is for learners to walk away with a basic understanding of what SolidWorks is, what the program is capable of doing and how to further develop their skills in SolidWorks.
Operating 3D Printers – Learn the basics of how 3D printers work and how to properly operate a desktop 3D printer. In this workshop we will be printing some small objects. Desktop 3D printers are not necessarily plug-and-play, knowledge about the fine tuning of 3D printers and 3D printer software is necessary in order to assure quality 3D prints. Examples of excellent prints and failed prints will be shown.
Illustrator for Beginners -This introductory class is for those who are new to Illustrator and want to learn the basics. The following topics will be covered: uses for Illustrator, measurements used by professional printers e.g. - picas pixels and inches, document setup, creating shapes, cutting paths, switching selection tools, grouping shapes, adjusting stroke and fill settings, creating an offset path, creating patterns, vector scaling and transformation tools."
Microsoft Publisher for Beginners - This workshop covers the basics of Microsoft Publisher, with an emphasis on making posters for academic symposiums, conferences and other events. Publisher is relatively easy to learn and use for those who are familiar with Microsoft Office software. Publisher creates a much higher quality poster than PowerPoint as it can be set to professional quality print resolutions.
