UWF Veterans Mentoring Program

The Veterans Mentoring Program was developed by Veterans for Veterans to assist all military affiliated students on their academic journey. This support is open to all students including Veterans, Active-Duty Service Members, and dependents regardless of whether they are using benefits or not.

A full-time Mentor Coordinator (MeCo) is an advocate for and an assistant to Military Affiliated students attending UWF. The current MeCo is a registered clinical social work intern (RCSWI) available to offer guidance to students and connect them with other valuable resources both on and off campus.

Additionally, the MeCo monitors Military Affiliated students’ GPA to determine their status as related to maintaining eligibility for UWF and VA education benefits. In the event a student is displaying academic distress and may be in jeopardy of losing benefits eligibility, the MeCo will reach out to the student to offer assistance. If a student would like assistance outside of this, the MeCo would be happy to meet and set that student up with a member of the SWIM team.

The Mentor Coordinator (MeCo), Lexi Vogel, MSW, Registered Clincal Social Work Intern, is located in Building 38, Room 147 and can be reached at 850.474.2550 or If you are a student who is not on campus and would still like to meet with the MeCo, please send an email to to set up a zoom meeting.

The MeCo offers assistance in these and other areas:

  • All withdrawals
  • Academic Success Support
  • Tutoring assistance
  • Referral to resources on and off campus
  • Coping skills
  • Conflict resolution (between you and anyone on campus)
  • Mental Health Resources
  • Assistance with adjustment to life as a student
  • Connecting with community resources

Note from your MeCo...

My name is Lexi Vogel. I am a Navy Veteran, active-duty spouse, and now your mentor coordinator at the Military and Veterans Resource Center. I am very excited to be here in your corner to provide support throughout your academic career. I understand and am here to help with the struggles and challenges that can come with being a military-affiliated student, whether you are a service member and/or a dependent of a service member. There is no one-size-fits-all college experience, and I look forward to working with you, whatever it may be.
