Course descriptions and syllabi retrieval, Apostille information and FAQ.

Course Descriptions and Syllabi

Students requesting course descriptions should first check the UWF Catalog and Course Search. Many previous editions of our catalog are available. If students request the Office of the Registrar to collect syllabi or course descriptions, there is an associated charge — please see below. Allow 4-6 weeks for us to complete your request.

Apostille Information

If you are traveling overseas or sending documents for use in a foreign country, you may be required to have the documents certified by the Florida Department of State; Division of Corporations. Depending on the country requesting the certificate, that certification may be called an “Apostille.” An Apostille is an additional form of authentication given to a notarized document to certify that the document is a true, i.e., exact, copy of the original.

To request the Apostille, you will be responsible for submitting the notarized document(s) to the Florida Department of State; Division of Corporations. Review their complete instructions for filing an Apostille request.

The University of West Florida Office of the Registrar provides notarization of transcripts, diplomas, and syllabi needed by students for this process. Before requesting notarization, please check with the agency requesting your documents to determine what level of verification is required.

For more information on how to request notarized official transcripts, diplomas, or syllabi, please email the Office of the Registrar registrar@uwf.edu. Please see Apostille (Students)* for detailed instructions. Depending upon the complexity of the requested documentation, please allow 4-6 weeks for us to complete your request.

To obtain an Official copy of your Academic Transcript or UWF Diploma please refer to the links below. If you need to order a Certified Official Transcript please refer to the Charges for Non-Academic Services chart for additional information.

The resumes and CVs of UWF faculty cannot be provided to students. The University Policy, AC-39.09-09/22 Faculty Qualifications, outlines UWF Qualifications by Academic Credentials in Section III(C). Students should provide this policy to the agency verifying their academic documents.

*If the nature or volume of public records requested to be inspected or copied requires extensive use of information technology resources or extensive clerical or supervisory assistance by personnel UWF may charge, in addition to the actual cost of duplication, a special service charge, which shall be reasonable and shall be based on the cost incurred for such extensive use of information technology resources or the labor cost of the personnel providing the service that is actually incurred by UWF. (For example: 2 hours (research to locate a document, at the salary rate of $15/hour = $30 to retrieve course syllabus or a course description not readily available in the office repository).

**Most course descriptions can be located in the archive catalogs located online (back to 1996). However, some courses (i.e. 990’s – temporary courses or new mid-academic year courses) require discussion with the teaching department that offered the course in order to obtain a description. If the course is not available in the online or Office of the Registrar catalog repository then a charge may be incurred.
