Victoria Smith

Biography

I am excited to join the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team. I started my college career at Nova Southeastern University and received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a business minor. Throughout my professional journey, I found a passion for helping people. This passion has made me more curious about the fascinating but complex impact of mental health on people's functioning. As I learned more about mental health, I knew that becoming a mental health clinician was the career for me.

In 2021, I started at the University of West Florida (UWF) to pursue my Master of Arts in Psychology with a counseling concentration. The last two years have further solidified my belief in the importance of mental health. I currently serve as a Pre-Master's Counseling Intern for CAPS.

I believe our past plays a large role in how we behave/function in our present life. It can be challenging but rewarding to connect our history to our current behavior. Through therapy, people can find relief by working collaboratively with a clinician to gain insight into how their past affects their present.

I am very excited to learn more about this career and hope to leave a positive impact at UWF!
