Biography

Kristina Akers received a master’s degree in psychology here at the University of West Florida and is humbled to provide ongoing support to our Argo community. She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University and then spent several years working within correctional and child welfare systems where she became a proponent for trauma-informed care. Kristina aims to promote individualized growth by providing a safe space for students to feel heard, respected and accepted. She integrates mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches to encourage curiosity, self-awareness and one’s felt sense of connection.
