Mission Statement and Program Objectives


Vision

The vision of the Department of Cybersecurity and Information Technology is to be recognized in the state of Florida and the nation for its outstanding undergraduate teaching and outreach programs, and for the quality, character, and integrity of its graduates and faculty.

Mission and Purpose

The mission of the Department of Cybersecurity and Information Technology is to offer baccalaureate degree programs of excellence in cybersecurity and information technology that serve the needs of the West Florida region, the state, and the nation. The goal of the baccalaureate degree programs is to prepare students to embark upon a professional career in cybersecurity, information technology and engineering technology, or to pursue graduate study.

Information Technology Program Objectives

Graduates will be known for their accomplishments in the early stage of their careers and they should:

  • Develop information technology solutions either individually or through interdisciplinary teams within a global and societal context.
  • Professionally and ethically, engage in technical or business activity through IT ability, communication skills, and knowledge.
  • Continue professional growth through post-graduate education, continuing education, or professional activity.
  • Contribute to the Northwest Florida regional economic development.
