Graduation Requirements

For University undergraduate graduation requirements, please see the Bachelor's Degree Requirements of the Undergraduate Catalog. For post-graduate level requirements, please see the Graduation and General Degree Requirements in the Graduate Catalog.

Graduation Applications

For step-by-step instructions on how to apply for graduation, and view important graduation dates, please see Applying for Graduation.

To determine the graduation application dates for a current or future term, please review the University Academic Dates & Deadlines. Graduation applications are submitted via the Student Academic Records Menu app in MyUWF.

NOTE:  In order to ensure that your name is reflected in the commencement program you must have your application for graduation on file with the Office of the Registrar no later than seven weeks prior to the end of the Fall or Spring semesters.  (Fall: Early October and Spring: End of February)

Doctoral Candidates

Students fulfilling the requirements for a Doctoral Degree must submit a paper Doctoral Application for Graduation form to the Graduate Studies Office of the School of Education no later than the end of the first week of classes of the semester of graduation.

Minors

Minors will not be awarded separately from the bachelor's degree. If the requirements for a declared minor have been met at the time the undergraduate degree is awarded, the minor will be awarded as well. Minors do not appear on the diploma, but are recorded on the academic transcript.

Certificates

Students who have declared a certificate are now able to apply for completion of the certificate via the online graduation application. Please visit the Certificates section of Applying for Graduation for more information. Requirements are determined by the academic department offering the certificate.  Upon approval and notification to the Office of the Registrar from the academic department, awarding of a certificate is listed on the transcript. Actual certificates of recognition may or may not be issued by the academic department. Contact the academic department offering the certificate program for more information.

Graduation Application FAQ

If you missed the deadline to apply online, but believe you will complete all requirements to earn your degree during the current term, you will need to contact your academic advisor to ask that they submit a request to our office to add you to the prospective graduation list as a late applicant. When you contact your department, you must provide them with your name as you wish it to be displayed on the diploma and also the address for your graduation application so that your graduation application can be created manually.

If you determine that you will not be completing all degree requirements by the end of the semester in which you applied to graduate, or if you elect to postpone your graduation date for another reason (such as to take classes towards a second major), you should notify the Office of the  Registrar in writing or by email to graduation@uwf.edu to cancel your current semester graduation application. You will need to submit a new graduation application for the appropriate semester.

There is no graduation application fee.
