Biography
Dr. Jerry Crouch is an esteemed academic leader and educator with a robust background in health sciences and respiratory therapy. He began his career by attending the US Army 68V Respiratory Specialist course, subsequently earning multiple credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), including Certified Respiratory Therapist, Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist, Neonatal Pediatric Specialist, and Registered Respiratory Therapist. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology from Thomas Edison State College, a Master of Science in Health Sciences with a focus in Health Care Management from Trident University International, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
Dr. Crouch has been with the University of West Florida since 2025, serving as the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Director and Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in the Department of Health Sciences and Administration. In his role, he is responsible for leading and overseeing clinical rotations, ensuring students meet competency requirements, and maintaining accreditation standards. He serves as a liaison between the program, clinical sites, and students, providing guidance, assessment, and support to enhance clinical learning experiences. He assumes administrative responsibilities in addition to teaching in the classroom, laboratory, & simulation setting. He currently teaches a variety of courses, including Patient Assessment, Cardiopulmonary Diseases & Diagnostics, and Clinical Practicum, and has previous teaching experience with graduate and undergraduate coursework in healthcare administration, education, and leadership.
Before joining UWF, Dr. Crouch was an assistant professor at Colorado Technical University and Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, where he taught healthcare administration and allied health sciences coursework. He also has experience as an online associate faculty teaching graduate-level healthcare administration coursework and began his teaching career at the Interservice Respiratory Therapy Program at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.
Dr. Crouch is actively involved in the Department of Defense funded POINT-mTBI study, contributing as a member of a community-based participatory research panel. His research interests include leadership, traumatic brain injury, and interprofessional education. He has delivered presentations on leadership for the AHRA and is dedicated to improving education through interprofessional collaboration.
