The University of West Florida Historic Trust is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and sharing the history of Northwest Florida.
The UWF Historic Trust manages the University of West Florida's 8-acre downtown campus, Historic Pensacola. Historic Pensacola is a living laboratory providing University students the opportunity to live, work, and study in a National Register Historic District.
On October 2, 2014, the UWF Historic Trust opened “Voices of Pensacola” presented by Gulf Power, a multicultural resource center highlighting the city’s diverse history. Through a $605,000 gift from Gulf Power Company and Southern Company, the UWF Historic Trust transformed one of its downtown properties, previously known as the Beacon Building, into Voices of Pensacola.
Voices of Pensacola features dynamic multifunctional exhibits representative of the cultural groups that have shaped Pensacola’s history, and provides a place for residents and visitors alike to gather, learn and tell their rich stories. Historic Pensacola Village employs University of West Florida students for living history demonstrations and tour guides providing the students with the tools to share Pensacola's historic story.
The downtown campus is home to two graduate student residence halls. These fully restored residence halls allows students to immerse themselves in the downtown historic atmosphere.
