Message from the Associate Dean

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the University of West Florida! What makes UWF so unique is the personal care and attention we give to every student. University College is here for YOU as you make your splash at UWF.

At UWF, we recognize that a crucial component to student success is access to academic advising. As the Associate Dean for Advising & Retention, it is my responsibility to ensure that all students have access to academic advisors who will answer questions and provide assistance in negotiating university policies and procedures.

The staff of the First Year Advising Center are here to help you transition into your college experience as you plan your courses, begin to explore your chosen paths, think about alternatives, refer you to resources, celebrate with you when good things happen, and support you during more difficult times. We will be there for you from the time you first enter UWF until you complete your first 30 credits. Contact your assigned academic advisor in the First Year Advising Center whenever you are not sure where to find the answers in your first year!

In addition to academic advisement, University College provides other support services, including the Academic Center for Excellence. The Academic Center for Excellence is there for you by providing free academic support services including individual and group tutoring, study space, and general paper reading in a one-stop-academic learning facility.

Once again, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the University of West Florida! My door is always open to students and my goal is to make your experience here productive and rewarding.
