Master of Accountancy
The M.Acc. degree develops your conceptual understanding of current and emerging technical issues facing the accounting profession, advanced technical skills in the area of elective concentration, and research and communication skills commensurate with the requirements of the accounting profession.
The Master of Accountancy degree requires 30 semester hours (10 courses) to complete, exclusive of Foundational Proficiencies. The core courses provide advanced work in the areas of governmental, financial and managerial accounting, contemporary professional issues, auditing, tax, and financial management. A strong emphasis on the development of analytic and communication skills are evident in the courses. Additional specialization in professional accountancy and taxation is available.
Admission shall be granted to individuals who show high potential for success in postgraduate studies based on academic achievement as an upper-division undergraduate student (minimum 3.0 GPA) and performance on on an approved Graduate Admissions Test (minimum GMAT score of 450 or GRE equivalent). Additional consideration will be given to the applicant's application based on a letter of intent and positive professional and academic letters of reference.
In addition to the University graduate admission requirements, the department bases decisions for regular admission on a holistic review of credentials in which the criteria listed below are used to assess the potential success of each applicant.
