Honors Convocation

Honors Convocation is an annual celebration where faculty and students are recognized for their distinguished academic achievements. It is one of the university's most important academic traditions.


2024 Honors Convocation
When? Friday, March 22, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m.
Where? Pensacola Campus, UWF Conference Center A, B & C
University Commons, Bldg. 22, Second Floor
How Long? The ceremony should last around an hour.
Webcast? The event will be webcast. A link will be available here closer to the event date.

 

What is Honors Convocation?
Honors Convocation is an annual celebration where faculty and students are recognized for their distinguished academic achievements. It is one of the university's most important academic traditions.

Will classes be canceled?
Classes will be canceled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to allow students to attend the ceremony.

What Student Awards will be presented?
The following student awards are presented: Outstanding Undergraduate Student Awards, Outstanding Graduate Student Awards, Graduate Assistant/Teaching Assistant Awards, Richard and Sandra Berg Scholar Athlete Awards, Hal Crosby Leadership Award, President's Award for Inclusion and Belonging (Student recipient).

What Faculty Awards will be presented?
The following faculty awards are presented: President's Award for Inclusion and Belonging (faculty recipient), Distinction in Faculty Scholarly, Creative, and Research Activities Award, Student Government Association Distinguished Teaching Award, Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring Award, Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award, Faculty Excellence in Teaching or Advising Award, and the Distinguished Faculty Service Award.

What does it mean to make the President's Honor Roll?
Undergraduate students who earn a semester GPA of 3.90 or higher, on a minimum of six semester hours of graded ("A-F") course work at UWF, are recognized as making the President's Honor Roll for that semester. Students will receive a letter, via email, from the President recognizing their achievement. Please note there is no award given at Honors Convocation in relation to making the President's Honor Roll.

What does it mean to make the Dean's Honor Roll?
Undergraduate students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50 - 3.89, on a minimum of six semester hours of graded ("A-F") course work at UWF, are recognized as making the Dean's Honor Roll for that semester. Students will receive a letter, via email, from the Dean recognizing their achievement. Please note there is no award given at Honors Convocation in relation to making the Dean's Honor Roll.
