2010 Oil Spill Response and Recovery
In the wake of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, University of West Florida researchers joined two of eight research consortia charged with investigating the fate of petroleum in the environment, impacts of the spill and development of new tools and technology for responding to future spills and improving mitigation and restoration over the course of 10 years.

Hurricane Irma Response
In an effort to assist small businesses recover from Hurricane Irma, the Florida SBDC Network dispatched two mobile assistance centers (MACs) to communities impacted by the disaster. The MACs are equipped with tools and resources needed to deal with post-disaster challenges and provide no-cost consulting for affected businesses wanting to apply for state and federal disaster loans.
UWF Departments Provide Awareness Education for Local Registered Nurses
Six registered nurses, all of whom are part of Baptist Hospital nursing residents program that is for nurses with less than one year’s experience on the job, attended the seminar.
The Division congratulates its Nautilus Excellence Award winners.These annual awards recognize individuals for substantial contributions and outstanding performance and professionalism affecting operations, service excellence and inter-departmental effectiveness.
The Division of Research and Strategic Innovation held its first retreat Oct. 16 at the University of West Florida Conference Center in Pensacola.
