Homecoming is a weeklong celebration of campus life, students, faculty, staff and alumni of the University of West Florida. Each year, we promote Argo pride with events, competitions, activities and athletics, and celebrate all that is UWF!
Who should be the next Mr. or Ms. UWF? UWF departments, programs and organizations can nominate students for Homecoming Court who best exemplify UWF. See the Court Expectations/Guidelines for details. Nominations are due Sunday, Oct. 1.
Compete throughout the week with your student organization or friends to show that you have the most Argo spirit! The top three groups win a prize. See the Golden Fleece Challenge Rules for details, and be sure to register in ArgoPulse. Registration is due Sunday, Oct. 1.
Join other student and faculty/staff competitors in a race across the UWF pool. Competitors will build their own boats from cardboard and duct tape. If you are not already competing in the Golden Fleece Challenge, you will need to complete the Golden Fleece Registration Form and select the Cardboard Boat Race as your only participating event. Registration closes Oct. 1.
Calling all UWF departments. Don't forget to sign up for the Blue and Green Challenge and show off your Argo spirit. Congratulations to our 2016 winner, Earth and Environmental Sciences! Registration closes Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Until UWF Homecoming 2017!
Get ready for an incredible week! Homecoming 2017 takes place Oct. 9-14 and includes Argo traditions like Cannon Fest and the Cardboard Boat Race. Celebrate the week with your fellow Argos, and be sure to join us for the football game-day extravaganza in downtown Pensacola. Find Homecoming event details here and in ArgoPulse, also available on the OrgSync app. Go, Argos!
Current students should bring an active Nautilus Card to all Homecoming events. Some events require tickets. Check out the schedule for event details and our FAQ to learn more about Homecoming.
On the first day of Homecoming, we cover the campus in blue and green. Show your Argo Pride by wearing your Argonaut gear, and post about #UWFHomecoming on social media to celebrate that Homecoming's here! Check out Golden Fleece contestants' window paintings, giant banners and twinkle lights at night! Look for Team Homecoming around campus to get your Homecoming swag.
This daytime picnic event on the Cannon Green is a favorite of the UWF community. Hang out with your friends, professors and staff listen to music, enjoy lunch and celebrate UWF on the Cannon Green, a special space with rich UWF history. This event includes barbecue, novelties, competitions, guest speakers and UWF Athletics!
In the mythological Greek tale of Jason and the Argonauts, Colchis is the city where Jason found the Golden Fleece. At UWF, Colchis is Homecoming's signature concert event, with a different artist performing each year. Stay tuned for this year's artist! Previous Homecoming concerts have featured Waka Flocka Flame, Dan + Shay, DJ Caked Up, T-Pain, Roscoe Dash, We The Kings, Ludacris and others from various genres.
Teams participating in the Golden Fleece Challenge create boats made out of only cardboard and duct tape. Captains paddle their boats across the pool in hopes of being the fastest Argo in the water — or at least in hopes of not sinking! Students will compete for first-fifth place before the faculty/staff teams and Homecoming Court members compete. Then all boats left floating will race again for the final chance at ultimate cardboard boat victory!
On the Saturday of Homecoming be sure to join us for the football game-day extravaganza in downtown Pensacola, including the tailgate at Community Maritime Park and cheering on our Argonauts.
