Assistantships

An assistantship is a paid position in which a graduate student works for faculty. Both teaching and research assistantships are available, with the large majority being teaching assistantships.

Graduate Assistantships

What is it?

Purpose: Provide teaching or research assistantships for work with faculty.
Criteria: Based on academic achievement, interests, and capabilities.
Enrollment: Must be enrolled full-time (6sh graduate hours or more).
Amount: Hourly wage of approximately $15.00/hr.
Work Commitment: 10-20 hours/wk fall and spring (also summers, subject to funding).

Assistantship offers a tuition waiver for out-of-state tuition and reappointment for additional terms as a graduate student will be based on a satisfactory performance evaluation submitted at the end of each semester by the immediate supervisor, continued good academic standing in the graduate program, and available funding. Good academic standing means earning a graduate GPA of 3.0 or better.
