B.A. in Art, Studio Art
Students pursuing a BA in Art may specialize in studio art.
Program Description
UWF's Bachelor of Arts in Art with a specialization in studio art offers foundations in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and photography. Our studio curriculum addresses technical and material means of visual expression while allowing students to focus on issues inherent in one's work. Students move beyond proficiency to a greater degree of excellence as they develop a personal body of work.
The B.A. in Art, Studio Art offers two-dimensional concentrations in drawing, painting and photography. The concentration in ceramics offers handbuilding and wheelthrowing techniques, along with advanced sculptural approaches. A concentration in sculpture is also available. Contemporary sculpture is often interdisciplinary in nature and conceptual; ideas precede the methods used and materials chosen. Technical and conceptual skills are both integral components of the sculptural process.
